KENTUCKY CYBERSECURITY INDUSTRY SURVEY

The Commonwealth of Kentucky has commissioned its first-ever statewide study on cybersecurity. This study will present specific strategies for the Commonwealth to realize the economic and security benefits of a vibrant cybersecurity sector. As tech companies and supporting businesses who have a stake in cybersecurity in Kentucky, your inputs are vital.

To present an accurate picture of the cybersecurity sector’s strengths and needs, the study team has created a structured survey to gather inputs from organizations like yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is sponsoring this study? The Commonwealth of Kentucky is sponsoring the study through a grant provided by the Office of Economic Adjustment at the Department of Defense. The Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs (KCMA) is administering the study.

Who is conducting this study? Simon Everett, a consulting firm, has been contracted to conduct the study.

Why should I spend my time filling this out? In order to help organizations like yours be successful, we need to know about you. The better the survey inputs are, the better the policy outcomes will be.

How long should this take me to complete? The survey can be completed in as little as 10 to 20 minutes, since many questions are multiple choice. However, respondents may choose to provide additional details.

What is the deadline for completion? The survey window will close on Friday, April 15. We know you’re busy – if you can’t get to the survey today, please block off time on your calendar today to complete.

How are you defining cybersecurity? For the purpose of this study, cybersecurity refers to the protection of electronic information and the devices, applications, and networks used to generate, access, transfer, or store electronic information.

Who should respond to this survey? The primary purpose of this survey is to accurately characterize the cybersecurity sector and workforce in Kentucky. So, if your organization provides cybersecurity products and services, employs cybersecurity workers, or provides cybersecurity education and training, we would like you to complete the survey. However, anyone can complete the survey, even if you don’t fit neatly into one of those categories.

Who in my organization should respond to the survey? We’ll be asking questions about human capital, operations, and other strategic issues, so an executive or senior manager is best suited to complete this survey.

How will the results be used? The study will present aggregate data and non-attributable quotes (as necessary to convey specific points). Unless you give your permission, the study will expressly not attribute your survey responses to you or your organization.

What if I don’t have answers to every question? We would prefer that you answer every applicable question, but you have the option to skip any question you like. An incomplete survey is more useful than no survey at all.

Are my survey responses secure? The study team has selected SurveyGizmo as the administration platform. You can read more about SurveyGizmo’s privacy, data, and security policy at https://www.surveygizmo.com/privacy/. It’s important to emphasize that we do not want you to submit proprietary or sensitive information.

This study sounds interesting. Can I read it when it’s done? Yes. This study is as much for you as it is for policymakers. Complete the survey, and you can choose to be notified when the study is published.

If I have questions about the study, whom should I contact? You may contact the study team at kentuckycyber@simon-everett.com.
